The DigitalCity Research Group concentrates on the interface between spatial data modeling, analysis and presentation on one hand and on the various applications in the domain of city planning on the other hand. It focuses on developing smaller prototype projects, publishing respective results and initializing national and international cooperations.

Guest lecture

On May 30th, 2011, Francis Harvey, Associate Professor at University of Minnesota, gave an impressing talk on the value of sharing geo data, entitled "Free Data and Free GIS: Some Observations from Minnesota". Based on his experiences with the MetroGIS project he presented an objective view on sharing geo data from local and regional governments in the U.S.


Noise GIS

Students of the Master program in Geomatics work on a project which builds up a GIS in the context of noise action planning for the City of Winsen (Luhe). Furthermore a concept for a sustainable implementation and usage of GIS in Winsen is developed.
