HEFV

The energy sector is an important location factor for the Hamburg Metropolitan region, and has been for years. A wide variety of major economic players are settled in Hamburg, from big energy producers and consumers to specialised engineering companies, financial service providers or certifiers - the later ones originating more and more from the renewable energy sector.

In addition, Hamburg features a versatile r&d scene at the universities. To strengthen their capabilities regarding energy research and to better the links to the administration and economy, the Hamburg Energy Research Network (HEFV) has been established. The network is based upon a concept, developed for the Hamburg Senate in 2012 and aims at establishing a firm r&d nucleus for energy research in the region. Partners in the HEFV are the Hamburg University, the University of Applied Sciences, the Technical University Hamburg-Harburg, the Helmut Schmidt University and the HafenCity University.
