Successful PhD defenses

g2lab experienced two very successful PhD defenses: Beate Weninger and Christoph Kinkeldey received the desired „additional two letters". Congratulations!

On December 19, 2014, Beate Weninger gained her doctoral degree for her thesis entitled "Noise maps in the public participation process – analysis and improvement of selected aspects of cartographic design" (in German). Her supervisors were Jochen Schiewe (HafenCity University Hamburg) and Sara Fabrikant (University of Zurich). For more information on this thesis have look at the website coloringnoise.

On January 19, 2015, Christoph Kinkeldey gained his doctoral degree for his thesis entitled "Incorporating uncertainty information into exploratory land cover change analysis: a geovisual analytics approach" (in English). His supervisors were Jochen Schiewe (HafenCity University Hamburg), Alan MacEachren and Alexander Klippel (both from PennState University, USA).
